One thing we love to see is when our clients use their training INSIDE the gym to tackle goals OUTSIDE of the gym. Lisa and Tony embody this 100%. They recently just finished their 320km trek from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela!
That’s over 200 miles in just 11 days.
Lisa and Tony first heard about the Camino while living in Belgium. They knew they wanted to do it too. Plans were made for 2022, but COVID postponed plans.
Then, last summer, they booked their tickets— knowing if they booked tickets, they were committing and were GOING to do it.
They chose the Portuguese Coastal Route, and at one point, they even stayed two nights in a monastery.
Their hike was 11 days, with most days covering 15 to 20 miles.
👉 How did they prepare/train? They joined Semi-Private Personal Training, and Coach Matt created a tailored program for them specifically training with this goal in mind. Outside of a few hikes here and there locally, Strength Training was their main means of training. The hours they put in the gym (at 5:30am nonetheless) were SO THAT they could check off this big bucket list item. And they did it!
As Tony put it:
“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it.”
They walked away not just with miles accomplished, but with perspective.
Tony realized how little you actually need, and Lisa found so much power in knowing you CAN do something, and then DOING it.
Tony and Lisa, we are really proud of you. You’re a living example of what’s possible when you commit, train with purpose, and just keep moving forward.
Next bucket list goal: The Way of St. Francis, from Florence to Rome. We can’t wait to watch them accomplish it!
